Section 3 is a provision of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Act of 1968 that helps foster local economic development and individual self sufficiency.

Ongoing Multi-Year Projects

Residential Street Vitality Program – The Residential Street Vitality Program (RSVP) is a City-wide RSVP20logo
reconstruction program of residential streets. The program began in 1996 and is anticipated to take place over approximately 25 years. See individual RSVP projects listed below by project year.

lafayettebridgeLafayette Bridge – The aging Lafayette Bridge presents an opportunity to re-think the Mississippi River’s gateway to the Capital City and the under-utilized Lafayette Bridge corridor – specifically, how it connects to surrounding neighborhoods and supports alternative modes of transportation, including bikes and pedestrians. Construction to replace the bridge will begin in 2011, with completion scheduled for 2014. Two design concepts, in concrete and steel, have been developed with considerable input from a Citizens Advisory Committee.
