HECUA (Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs) offers off-campus academic programs that provide students opportunities to do integrative intellectual, political, and artistic work in support of movements for social justice, peace, and environmental sustainability in the U.S. and abroad.
Informed by a deep respect for the knowledge of communities most impacted by injustice, HECUA’s programs envision students, teachers, and community members as co-learners and co-creators.
For fifty years, HECUA has offered off-campus academic programs that provide undergraduate college students opportunities to do integrative intellectual, political, and artistic work in support of movements for social justice, peace, and environmental sustainability in the U.S. and abroad. Informed by a deep respect for the knowledge of communities most impacted by injustice, HECUA’s programs envision students, teachers, and community members as co-learners and co-creators. HECUA pushes students to view their program as more than an intellectual exercise. HECUA is committed to educating the whole student by fostering emotional intelligence, moral imagination, and compassion. Programs involve classroom work, field experiences, and carefully constructed and monitored internship projects at partner organizations.
The Office Manager is a critical member of HECUA’s Operations team and a central resource for all staff. They are responsible for the day-to-day oversight of many of the company’s core internal functions, particularly those related staff production, communications, and data administration. Where staff are able to remain productive, where communication is clear and efficient, and where data is accurate and accessible, employees will more easily achieve their goals and morale will be high. For these reasons, the HECUA leadership interacts with and depends on the Office Manager in most project planning.
Included among the major Office Manager functions are these key areas: inventory and equipment management, vendor relations, computer/network administration, database support, administrative support, supervision of clerical staff (if applicable), and assistance in alumni development and board communications. The Office Manager also assists with a wide variety of special projects that cut across department lines.
ORGANIZATIONAL & ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT (4-8 hrs per week, 10-20%)
INVENTORY, EQUIPMENT, VENDOR MANAGEMENT (4-8 hrs per week , 10-20%)
DATABASE MANAGEMENT (10 – 12 hrs per week, 25-30%)
BOARD, COMMITTEE, & MISSION SUPPORT (4-8 hrs per week, 10-20%)
HECUA offices are located at 2233 University Avenue, Suite 210, Saint Paul, MN 55114, conveniently located off the Green Line as well as bus routes 63, 67, and 87. This position works primarily in an open office on the second floor, available via elevator or stairs. While the building allows pets, the office is pet free with the exception of service animals. Laptop computers and workstations are provided, with accommodations available for seated or standing desks. Minimal travel within the Twin Cities metro is required for this position.
This is a year-round, full-time position. The starting salary ranges from $35,000 to $40,000, depending on experience. HECUA offers competitive health benefits, life and disability insurance, paid time off, and a generous 403(b) retirement plan. The preferred start date for the position is: Monday, October 14th .
